The Newtown Enmore Business Community (NEBC) recently took over Young Henrys Brewery for an energetic launch party celebrating two massive local milestones: the release of TOWNMAG Issue #3 and the upcoming Great Southern Nights (GSN) Gig Trail. Local operators, artists, and community members turned out in force to kick off this next chapter for our vibrant precinct.
Highlights of the Night
Warm Welcomes: Uncle Brendan Kerin opened formal proceedings with a moving didgeridoo performance and Welcome to Country on behalf of the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council, before host Oscar McMahon (Young Henrys / NEBC Vice President) took over to guide us through the rest of the evening.
Industry Insights: Julia Robinson, Head of Policy and Advocacy at ARIA, shared how the Great Southern Nights Gig Trail will shine a spotlight on our local venues, followed by updates and community thanks from NEBC’s Heleana Genaus.
Live Vibes: Guests were treated to an incredible live performance by Krystal Rivvers, while DJ Gonz kept the vinyl spinning background beats throughout the evening.
Local Fuel & Merch: Local legends Marani Deli and Wing Boy kept everyone fed with delicious snacks, baguettes, wings, and corn ribs. Attendees also got to watch live T-shirt printing in action at the FRESH merchandise station—with all shirt sales directly supporting NEBC initiatives!
What’s Next?
The momentum is just getting started. The Great Southern Nights Gig Trail is set to turn our precinct into a walkable celebration of live music, pulling crowds directly into local venues, bars, and spaces across Newtown and Enmore.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, to our hosts at Young Henrys, and to Lachlan Bruce (@gooddecisions.au) for capturing the night on camera.
Keep an eye out for Issue #3 of TOWNMAG across the precinct, get ready to follow the Gig Trail, and we’ll see you at our next NEBC gathering!
