Always the Right Fit
With Christopher Dyson, Director of VectorFit, Newtown
At VectorFit, exercise is about more than just fitness. It is about health, resilience and the strength of community. For the past four years, VectorFit has been helping Newtown locals manage injuries, pain, chronic health conditions and disabilities, all through the power of movement.
GM and exercise physiologist Chris Dyson says Newtown was always the right fit. “The Newtown and Enmore area are our people,” he says. “We absolutely love working with our clients and patients.”
VectorFit offers a mix of one-on-one treatment and small group exercise physiology classes, a service that has quickly grown to 21 classes per week. “The group community has become such a big part of our identity,” Chris says. “People get to know each other, share experiences, and support one another. That sense of connection is what Newtown is all about.”
For Chris, Newtown’s real magic is its openness. “No one is judging, everyone is doing their best.”
“You can come in any shape, from any background, and you are welcomed.”
That spirit of inclusiveness flows through everything VectorFit does. The clinic is proudly LGBTIQA+ inclusive as registered members of welcomehere.org.au, reflecting the diversity of the suburb it serves. “So many of our clients walk from home. We really feel like a part of the local fabric.”
The support network among Newtown’s health professionals has also been crucial. “There is an amazing health community here, from allied health practitioners to GPs and specialists. It is very collaborative.”
Christopher’s favourite Newtown ritual is a casual one. A visit to Cairo Newtown, and always the sense that there is something new around the corner.
For anyone needing a quick energy boost during a busy Newtown day, Christopher’s advice is simple. “Any movement is good movement. A walk or jog at Sydney Park is a great start. But if you have any health history, a proper assessment with an exercise physiologist is the best way to begin safely.”
At VectorFit, movement is medicine, but it is also a way to stay connected to yourself, to your neighbours, and to the place you call home.
