Free Resource Promoting Inclusivity in Hospitality Businesses

Almost one in five Australians live with a disability, and like everyone, they enjoy dining out. A recent study from Monash University found that for every $1 spent on improving access, businesses see a $13 return. The good news is that making your business more inclusive doesn’t have to cost anything.

As part of the “Good Access is Good Business” campaign, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT is offering hospitality businesses in Sydney’s Local Government Area (LGA) free access to a short online course on assisting people with blindness or low vision. This course is easy to complete and offers simple actions that can make your business more inclusive

By completing the course, you will gain confidence in assisting customers with blindness or low vision. You’ll learn how to guide people to their destination, navigate narrow spaces or stairs, and describe spaces with appropriate details. These actions improve the experience for all customers and make your business more welcoming.

Course link can be accessed here. The free code is ‘Sydney’.

Upon completing the course, if you find it valuable, consider sharing this educational resource with other businesses that could benefit from this initiative.

Beyond this course, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT is looking for ongoing cheerleaders and passionate change-makers to raise awareness for important issues and advocate for meaningful change.
