Wellness With Heart

With Dr Vicky Prokopiou and Peter Samios, owners of iDental Surgery, King Street South

At iDental Surgery, dentistry is about much more than teeth. Since opening their doors on King Street South in 2011, Dr Vicky Prokopiou and Peter Samios have built a family practice rooted in the idea that oral health is a window to overall wellbeing. Their approach, known as Complete Wellness Dentistry, has won awards across Australia and more importantly, the trust of a community they are proud to call home.

“We are not just fixing teeth, we are supporting whole-body health,” Dr Vicky says. “And we are doing it in a way that makes people feel safe, empowered and genuinely cared for.”

It is no surprise they chose Newtown as their base. Long-time locals themselves, they believe the neighbourhood reflects everything iDental stands for: diversity, connection and a strong sense of community pride. “This community gets it,” Peter says. “It values wellness, individuality and supporting your own.”

Their impact stretches beyond the clinic walls. From their #ilovekingstreet Instagram campaign to collaborations with nearby favourites like Flour Drum and Dragstar, iDental Surgery champions the local businesses that give Newtown its soul. Even their much-loved dachshund Hugo, known affectionately as Head of Security, is part of the fabric of the area.

Visitors to Newtown often see the colourful buzz of King Street, but as Peter and Dr Vicky know, the real heart of the neighbourhood beats in its small businesses, schools, parks and friendships.

“You do not just see Newtown, you feel it.”

Inside the clinic, that same feeling flows through everything they do. Education and prevention come first, fear and pressure are left at the door. Every patient is treated as a whole person, not just a mouth.

And if there is one myth they are determined to bust, it is the old belief that everyone only needs to see a dentist twice a year. “That rule was invented by a marketing campaign in the 1930s,” Dr Vicky says. “Real care is personal. How often you need a check-up depends on you.”

At iDental Surgery, health is not treated as a transaction. It is a shared journey, built on trust, connection and the true Newtown spirit.
