Car Boot Sleep Out
What is the Car Boot Sleepout?
On 13 May, Car Boot participants will convene on the rooftop of Marrickville Metro Shopping Centre for an interactive and educational program that includes activities and hearing directly from people with lived experience of homelessness. And, of course, everyone sleeps in their car as a symbolic gesture of solidarity for those who have no choice each and every night.
The Car Boot Sleepout serves as NNC's most crucial fundraiser of the year. Designed to be an immersive and eye-opening overnight experience, it aims to cultivate empathy and highlight the harsh realities of homelessness. This year, we focus on the severe impact of homelessness on women and children. Many of them face heartbreaking situations—couch surfing, living in parks, or sleeping in their cars—making them some of the most at-risk individuals in our society across Australia. This issue may hit closer to home than you think, and your participation can make a difference.
